Being together: why a weekend away means so much more

Have you ever experienced that?
You look at an old photo of your child and think, Where does the time go? It feels like the photo was taken yesterday, but the child in that photo… well, he's not really there anymore.
Your son or daughter is suddenly bigger, more independent, and slowly going his or her own way.
And you are left with a warm feeling and a pile of grateful memories, but also with the realization that those moments will never come back again.

Our life is hectic.
We set high standards for ourselves: the children must receive the perfect gift, we want that nice electric cargo bike, a nice house, a nice car, and nice clothes. We often go out to eat.

And to pay for all of that, we work hard.

But because of that, we miss something… time. Time with our children.

Since our youngest daughter was born, we've realized this even more. Suddenly, we had twice as much to care for, and although we enjoy our work, partly to show our children that work is part of life in this society, it sometimes feels painful.

Every time I go to work and my children cry and say they don't want Mommy to leave, something breaks inside me. They want to play with Mommy, cuddle, just be together. And so do I.

One day I said to my husband:
Let's see if we can buy something so we can get away for a weekend every now and then. Just to feel like we're on vacation. Somewhere with plenty of space, close to nature, the beach, the water. With beautiful cycling and walking routes, but also all the necessary amenities nearby.

That's how we ended up at a campsite in Kropswolde. There were only a few spots left on the park's new beach area, right on Zuidlaardermeer lake in Groningen.

We fell in love instantly.

There was one condition: a new chalet had to be built.

We didn't hesitate for long. We could already see ourselves sitting there, often with our beautiful daughters, enjoying this place. So we decided to go for it.

We have furnished our chalet completely in the way that we like it.

• In the kitchen you will find everything to make cooking during a weekend away easy and enjoyable.
• There are lots of reading books and toys, both for the children and for us, so we can play together without always having to bring things from home.
• On the terrace there is a lovely lounge area and a nice BBQ on charcoal, which we think is the most delicious.
• The chalet is equipped with an air conditioning combination with heating, ideal for any season.
• There is a soundbar for those who like to listen to music or want nice sound while watching Netflix.

We have thought of everything to create a real feeling of home, because this is our second home.

However, the journey from Lelystad to Groningen turned out to be quite tough, especially with our 1.5 year old daughter who does not like to sit in the car for so long.

And with the high cost of gasoline, driving back and forth every weekend became expensive as well.

Because we don't get to use our chalet as often ourselves, but we absolutely love it, we decided to rent it out. This way, we can not only make other families happy but also cover the costs of the pitch and the chalet itself.

And so Savacejo was born, named after our family's first names: Sander, Van, Celine, and Jolie. This chalet is truly a piece of ourselves.

We rent it out with love, care and personal attention, not like in the large holiday parks, where you are often just a number, but with the feeling that you are welcome in someone's home.
